April 2009 Member Meeting

Our AZHTCIA meeting is Wednesday April 08, 2009.

We have a very good speaker this month; Bill Sutter from Guidance Software is coming out to give us some hands on with EnCase and several of its lesser known abilities.

Because we are going to be hands on, we have CHANGED the meeting location to facilitate using computers during the meeting.

We are meeting at:   ACTIC (Arizona Counter Terrorism Information Center)

Location information is enclosed in the members email you should have received. If you need to be added to the distribution list, please send an email requesting so.

Here is the list of topics of discussion:

IRONKEY, TOR and AIRMAGNET

•    Some forensic remnants associate with the use of an IRONKEY.

•    TOR (The Onion Router) a software suite that uses random encrypted channels to surf the net anonymously. This is the underlying technology used for secure browsing on the IRONKEY.

•    The AirMagnet, a highly portable device, made from a PDA that is connected to a powerful antenna used for detection and location of wireless networks.

Detective Oldenburg from the City of Phoenix Police Department will discuss “Phishing Scams” or scams used to harvest username and passwords from unsuspecting victims who think they are inputting private information into secure login pages, specifically addressing:

•    How they typically work.
•    Ways to determine if you are actually secure.
