April 2012 Meeting |
| Our next meeting will be held at AcTIC on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, from 9am to 12pm. A map to AcTIC can be downloaded in the Downloads > Misc section after logging in. Our featured speaker, Mark Vange, Vice President, Electronic Arts, Inc., will present on "Cyber Crime: A View from the Board Room and from the Trenches." Mr. Vange has nearly 30 years of experience as a technologist and entrepreneur. As a teenager he founded his first company and was already breaking new ground innovating technologies for major corporate customers but he really found his stride in the video game industry as one of the earliest innovators in multiplayer entertainment. In 1991, Mr. Vange was an early pioneer of overseas outsourcing, building the world’s largest providers of online games infrastructure and technologies, serving customers such as Microsoft, Deutsche Telekom, Time-Warner Cable, British Telecom, Docomo, Chollian, America Online, Bertelsmann and Sony Networks and ultimately the US military. In 2004, Mr. Vange founded Mobile Post Production Inc. Through the creation of novel tools and processes that allow for the cost effective and rapid porting of applications between various mobile telephony platforms, Mr. Vange professionalized what was then an ad-hoc business and helped create an entire industry. As CEO and then EVP of MPP, Mr. Vange led the company to becoming the world’s largest provider of such services until MPP's acquisition by Electronic Arts Inc in April of 2011 where he now serves as Vice President focusing on new platforms and security. Mr. Vange has authored some 18 patents and has contributed to the publication of over a thousand products in his career. He has also been an advisor to several private and public companies, as well as a number of investment funds. We hope to see you there, but if you are not able to make it, we will be streaming the meeting live. Instructions will be sent to the membership via email. |
